Abbott Parkside Senior Apartments is a 61-unit market rate senior apartment community located at 2700 Marfitt Road in East Lansing, Michigan. Built by James R. Hovey in 1995 as president of Oakwood Construction Company, this three-story complex was designed for independent senior living. The clientele targeted for this development was the segment of the senior population that was no longer interested or physically able to maintain their homes, but yet still wanted all the comforts of home. With that in mind, the development was designed to include spacious units, storage facilities, a library, community kitchen, salon, common garden, patios, balconies, exercise room and a common living area in order to socialize. By correctly anticipating the clientele’s needs the development has been able to sustain an occupancy rate of over 97%.
